BBC News Editor apologises for Shashi Kapoor error
BBC News has been forced to apologise for an error it made last night during a report on Shashi Kapoor’s death.
In the bulletin, which aired at 22:00 yesterday, presenter Huw Edwards reported briefly about Kapoor’s death, while video footage of Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor was being shown.
Hang on @bbcnews Shashi Kapoor has died not Amitabh Bachan or Rishi Kapoor, who you've weirdly used to illustrate the story. pic.twitter.com/48jo6DGjU6

Social media went into a frenzy after BBC News was accused of being “careless”, “disrespectful” and “lazy” by viewers.
Taking to Twitter himself, Paul Royall, Editor of BBC News at Six and Ten, said, “#BBCNewsTen is very sorry wrong images were used to mark the death of Shashi Kapoor. Not our usual standards and I apologise for any upset.”
The veteran Bollywood star passed away at the age of 79 yesterday.
