BBC local radio journalists to strike on local elections day
BBC local radio journalists are set to strike on local elections day this May, its been confirmed.
The 24-hour walkout coincides with pending changes to local radio. This will be second strike after the first took place on the day of the Budget, 15th March.
As a part of the proposed changes, the BBC wants to save money by sharing programmes on local radio stations from 14:00 weekdays and at weekends. The change would mean local programming hours reducing from 100 hours per week to just 40.
