BBC Four faces axe as pressure mounts on corporation to cut costs

The future of arts channel, BBC Four is in doubt after pressure continued to mount on the corporation to save money.

The BBC will reportedly make an announcement today about a major cost-cutting exercise. This follows on from a two-year licence fee freeze, which was announced in January. This will result in a £285million funding gap by 2027.

As well as BBC Four, there could be changes in the BBC’s sport department, BBC One’s output and changes to BBC Two and BBC 5 Live.

BBC declined to comment.
