BBC Asian Network’s annual cost remains at £7 million for fourth year
The BBC Asian Network spend for 2023-2024 remained at £7 million for the third year in a row.
In the BBC Annual Report published today, the BBC Asian Network spend remained the same as 2022/2023.
Other BBC radio stations including BBC Radio 1 and BBC 5 Live saw their spends increase to £41m (from £39m in 2022/2023) and 58m (from 50m in 2022/2023) respectively.
While the BBC Asian Network’s spend was among the least from the whole group, its ‘cost per user hour’ was among the highest out of all BBC radio brands. It cost 5p to deliver the service for each hour used. BBC Asian Network, BBC 1Xtra, BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio 5 Live were the highest.
