The BBC Asian Network has been nominated for four awards at this year’s Sony Radio Academy Awards. The popular national station is up for ‘Digital Station Of The Year’, competing with last year’s winner Planet Rock, along with Fun Kids. Bobby Friction’s late night self-titled show ‘Friction’ has managed to win recognition yet again in the ‘Best Specialist Show’ category along with BBC Asian Network’s other show ‘Mic Check’, David Rodigan’s Kiss show and Andi Durrant’s Galaxy show. Recently ‘Friction’ won the ‘Best Radio Show’ gong at the UK AMAs. The Asian Network’s news show ‘The Wrap’ is also up for a gong as it vies to win the ‘Best News and Current Affairs Show’. It faces stiff competition from the likes of BBC Radio 1’s ‘Newsbeat’, 5Live’s ‘Breakfast’ and Radio 4’s ‘Today’. The ceremony takes place in Central London on Monday 11th May.
