BBC Asian Network unveils new ‘modern’ logo

The BBC Asian Network is to get a new logo as part of the BBC۪s 120,000 revamp across all its stations.

A spokesperson for BBC Asian Network explained the thinking behind the new logo: “The important points when re-designing Asian Network’s brand logo, were to the reflect the heritage and the future face of Asian Network’s modern content. We also wanted to give Asian Network an equal billing amongst the rest of the radio portfolio.
“So the simplicity of the new design makes it feel modern when used with the Radio 1 and 1Xtra logo, yet the ‘fabric swoosh’ in the ‘A’ is about adding a touch of heritage. It was designed to feel just as at home promoting Bobby Friction’s cutting edge night time music show as it would Devotional Sounds.”

The new logo for the Asian Network goes live this Sunday (12th August) at the London Mela.

Recently, the BBC Asian Network underwent some schedule changes with the introduction of new presenters – Noreen Khan (formerly Club Asia), Panjabi Hit Squad, Rajini Vaidynathan (Radio 1) and Jas Rao (formerly Club Asia). The station also boosted its music output with the extension of its Drivetime show from three to four hours and an eight-hour block of Bollywood programming at the weekend.

The other BBC radio logos will also see the introduction of new logos next week.
