BBC Asian Network shake-up brings new speech & current affairs show

BBC Asian Network has announced updates to its programming schedule, effective from Monday 27th October, introducing new formats and time slots across its weekday lineup.

A key addition to the schedule is Asian Network Trending, a new weekly speech and current affairs show airing every Wednesday from 8pm to 10pm. The programme will explore major trending stories from the week in its first hour, followed by a deeper discussion in the second hour on issues affecting British Asian communities. Each episode will feature guest contributors offering insight and analysis.

Asian Network Trending will be hosted on a rotational basis, beginning with broadcaster, DJ, and producer Amber Haque. Haque has previously worked across BBC Three, Channel 4, and BBC Sounds, producing documentaries and podcasts focused on youth culture and identity.

Other schedule changes include Asian Network’s New Music Show with DJ Limelight moving to Mondays from 8pm to 10pm, followed by Asian Network Motivation from 10pm to 11pm. Meanwhile, One More Chai will now air on Tuesday nights at 10pm.

Ahmed Hussain, Head of Asian Network, says: “I’m incredibly excited to launch Asian Network Trending – a bold new space for speech, discussion and current affairs that reflects the voices, concerns and passions of British Asians today.

“This show gives us the freedom to dive deep into the stories that matter most to our audience, in the distinctive style only Asian Network can deliver. It’s a unique platform where trending topics meet cultural nuance, and where our presenters and guests can explore issues with real depth, honesty and flair.”
