BBC Asian Network reveals Christmas line-up

The BBC Asian Network has confirmed its line-up for the festive period,BizAsia.co.uk��can reveal.

From Monday 13th ��� Sunday 19th December, BBC Asian Network presenters Raj and Pablo will present a selection of the best Bollywood interviews that have graced the radio network this year, for a special Bollywood programme on the BBC Red Button.

The highlights package will include interviews filmed at the International Indian Film Academy Awards, including up close and personal chats with some of the industry�۪s biggest stars and will also showcase interviews from the station�۪s ��In Conversation with….�۪ strand recorded at the BBC Radio Theatre.

‘Asian Network Reports Special: A Week in the Slums’ on Friday 24th December will kick off the station�۪s selection of repeats, which will continue through the holiday period and end on Friday 31st December with the Ravi Shankar documentary, ‘Ravi at 90’. During the seven days, the station will repeat some of its favourite documentaries and will also broadcast repeats of the new drama stand ‘Asian Network Presents…’ which started in September, including ‘Ping Pong’, ‘Reality Check’ and ‘We�۪re Not Getting Married’.

The station will also broadcast a series of ‘Best of…’ programmes, showcasing the Nihal show on Friday 24 December, Friction from the 27th – 30th December and Asian Network Reports on the 31st December.

Dipps Bhamrah will be showcasing the 80�۪s and 90�۪s in special shows, broadcast on the 27th and 28th December respectively. ‘Asian Network Live’ programmes on the 29th and 30th November will highlight the station�۪s 2010 live event activity, ranging from the multitude of Melas to the intimate Maida Vale Sessions.

Rounding off all the festive programming on the 31st December, will be the ‘Official Download Chart of the Year’ and the special ‘New Years Eve Party’ with Waqas Saeed. Having started in early 2010, the Official Asian Download Chart has documented the chart movements every Saturday, with Bobby Friction speaking to a host of established and new artists. The special show on the 31st December will showcase the best tracks and most celebrated artists of 2010. Moving into 2011, later that evening, Waqas Saeed will take listeners into the New Year with great music, guests and the renowned Asian party spirit!
