BBC Asian Network head Ahmed Hussain rapped for sharing Gaza ‘genocide’ post
The BBC Asian Network head, Ahmed Hussain has reportedly breached the BBC’s social media rules for sharing a Frankie Boyle tweet calling Israel’s military actions in Gaza ‘genocide’.
The tweet read, “A lot of artists and commentators in Britain who’ve spent their careers foregrounding their empathy and humanism, apparently unable to muster a single word about the genocide in Gaza.”
“This matters because Britain is providing political and military cover for these actions. If you have a voice, please use it to call for a ceasefire, and the lifting of the blockade.”
He also shared another post in which comments made by Israeli President Isaac Herzog were branded “pure insanity”.
The paper also reports that Hussain had shared criticism of Israeli police before the Hamas attack.

The reshare of the posts appear to have breached the corporation’s new social media guidelines, which require “senior leaders” to remain neutral when reporting/discussing news, same as its journalists.
A BBC spokesperson told the publication, “Our social media guidance sets out clear expectations for staff, including the particular responsibility for all senior leaders to uphold the BBC’s impartiality.
“Any breaches of the guidance are taken seriously, and we have spoken to Ahmed and reminded him of these responsibilities. The retweets have been removed.”
