Barkha Dutt slams Arnab Goswami in online spat

NDTV consulting editor Barkha Dutt has taken to social networking sites to slam Times Now’s Editor-in-Chief and President, Arnab Goswami after he called for gagging of media.

In his programme ‘The Newshour’ on Times Now on Tuesday, Goswami called some rival channels sympathisers of militants and pro-Pakistan in the ��Kargil Diwas�۪ debate. He demanded stringent punishment for them, according to The Indian Express. Dutt said she was “ashamed” to be from the same industry as Goswami when he described journalists as #ProPakistanDoves.

Taking to Facebook, Dutt said, “So he drones on and on about Pro Pakistan Doves without one word on the JK alliance agreement that commits the BJP and PDP to talks with Pakistan and Hurriyat and is silent on Modi�۪s own Pakistan outreach- neither of which I object to- but since Arnab Goswami measures patriotism by such views why is he so silent on the government? Chamchagiri?”

She added, “Times Now calls for gagging of media & for journalists to be tried &punished. This man is journalist?Ashamed to be from same industry as him.”

Meanwhile, Bollywood actor Anupam Kher came in support of Goswami. He was cited in The Financial Express saying, “This is an open message for Arnab Goswami, I have been watching your snippets on Times Now here in AdeLaide, Australia and I want to say thank you to you.I want to thank you on behalf of million of Indians for whom India comes first. I want to thank you for exposing ��pseudo intellectuals�۪ and ��pseudo liberals�۪ for whom it is important to shed tears for a terrorist killed than shedding tears for a fauji of Indian Army killed. I want to thank you for raising this issue and I want to thank you for raising this on a national platform. Don�۪t get bogged down by these people. I am sure you are a strong man and you will not bet bogged down by such people but they have a tendency of immediately attacking you, the moment you talk about nation. It is fashionable to attack a person who talks about deshbhakti, who talks about tiranga, who talks about jana gana man but remember one thing, millions of Indians are with you. they have to be with you because for all of us India is NO.1 and then rest of the world.
