‘Barfi!’ crosses the Rs 100 cr mark
Some would say it’s steady popularity made it inevitable and others will breathe a sigh of relief that a film with substance has finally joined the Rs 100 cr club. ‘Barfi!’ has indeed crossed that mark and become a part of the elite.
Not long after being selected as India’s official entry to the Oscars, the film has reached Rs 100 cr in the worldwide market. Trade Analyst, Taran Adarsh, tweeted, “Barfi has grossed 100 cr *worldwide* in 10 days”.
Director Anurag Basu had stressed that being a part of the elite club did not hold much importance for him. In an interview, according to Mid-Day,he had commented, “I don’t know about making Rs 100 crore. But I feel it is more difficult to touch people’s heart. From my film, I only want to touch hundreds or thousands of hearts and that’s all that matters to me. Collection is not important for me”.
