Karan Johar’s ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ (2016) has faced numerous controversies over the last few months. Bappi Lahiri’s son had also demanded an apology from Johar as he felt his dad had been disrespected in the film. However, Lahiri says there is no use being upset with those who don’t know how to respect their seniors.

Speaking to DNA, Lahiri said, “Bura kyu lagega. Main hun kaun bura manne wala? (Why will I be feel bad? Who am I to feel bad?)… The makers openly disrespected Mohammed Rafi saab. I am nothing compared to him. It’s pretty clear that these people don’t know anything about music, so you can’t be upset with such people… It’s clear that they can’t respect their seniors or their work. If they can be so insensitive, it’s no use being upset with them.”

Lahiri’s superhit song ‘Taaki O Taaki’ was used in a comic way in the film, as the characters, essayed by Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma, call it the tackiest song of the 1980s and sing it as ‘Tacky O Tacky’.
