Bangladesh bans broadcast of IPL over Mustafizur Rahman row

The Bangladesh government has imposed a ban on the broadcast of IPL 2026 within the country, following the BCCI’s decision to withdraw Bangladeshi pacer Mustafizur Rahman from the tournament.

The move is being viewed as a direct response to what Bangladeshi authorities consider an unfair and unilateral action by the Indian cricket board. Mustafizur, one of Bangladesh’s leading international players, was reportedly pulled from the competition due to scheduling and workload concerns, a decision that has sparked considerable debate among fans and officials alike.

By blocking the telecast of the IPL, Bangladesh has taken an unusually strong stance, signalling its displeasure and highlighting the growing tensions between the two cricketing bodies.
