‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ rapped by CBFC for promoting dowry system

Karan Johar’s ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ has found itself on the receiving end from the Censor Board Of Film Certification.  The CBFC has raised objection at the film’s storyline which  reportedly revolves around the antiquated dowry system.

As a result Johar has been instructed to include a strong disclaimer at the start of the film.  According to Bollywood Hungama, sources have commented stating “Although the film and its makers in no way endorse the dowry system the censor board has demanded a clear disclaimer at the beginning of the opening credit titles stating the film and its makers do not endorse the dowry system.”

The film, scheduled to hit theatres in a week, stars youth icons Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt.  Here again the Board has raised objections against the use of an expletive by Dhawan’s character stating “Both Varun and Alia Bhatt are youth icons. They should be careful of what they say and the values they uphold on screen,” continued the source.

Johar, who has felt the wrath of the CBFC with his last release ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ (2016) appears to be targetted by them again.
