B4U Movies to go free-to-air in India

B4U Network’s only premium channel, B4U Movies is set to turn it free-to-air from Saturday 15th April.

The channel, which launched in 1999 has been available at a monthly subscription and will now join sister channel, B4U Music to extend its reach across India – including the Rural market. It will join a cluster of other rival channels in the same market that currently run free Hindi movie channels from ZEE Network, Star TV and Viacom18. The increase in free-to-air channels specifically has shown huge growth after BARC India started reporting viewing data for Rural households.

Incidentally, in the UK, the channel is expected to take a similar approach when it is released from the current Sky Asia Pack to the basic Sky package. By taking this route, B4U Movies will become accessible to the widest audience ever since it was launched in the UK. Meanwhile, sister channel B4U Music has been doing tremendously well in UK ratings – claiming the UK’s top spot in the Asian music genre.
