Ayushmann Khurrana has opened up about his recent tour where he performed to packed audiences.

The VJ turned actor and singer, is following in the footsteps of other industry stars making an attempt to reach out to a more global audience. Priyanka Chopra as a prime example with her hit US show Quantico۪ (2015) and upcoming film alongside Dwayne The Rock۪ Johnson, Baywatch۪ (2017).

Khurrana has now joined that elite group and spoke about his recent concerts to Hindustan Times, It was phenomenal. In Dubai, the tickets sold were almost double of what the organisers had expected. In the US, a lot of people told me that they weren۪t expecting this kind of a performance from me. I usually sing soft songs. But during these concerts, I performed some foot-tapping numbers from my films too.۝

The US tour, in particular, left a resonating mark on Khurrana. It was my debut tour in the US. I performed in eight cities. I realised that in the US, people are connected more to India through music and cinema. They are more receptive to Indian music, probably, even more than audiences in India. When they see actors or singers performing live, they love it.۝

So what next for Khurrana? He has set his sights on wanting to work with an international rapper. He feels this may be something never seen before. Most of my songs are melodious, so to collaborate with an international rapper, will be unique. It is a zone I would like to explore,۝ he says. Khurrana feels that the market is there for Indian artists to reach a more International audience due to there being a lot of NRIs now in the west.

As a preference, Khurrana prefers performing live. Singing at a concert gives you a different high,۝ he says. It gives you instant gratification. You always want that kind of appreciation from the audience.۝ With his idols ranging from Chris Martin, Adele and Kishore Kumar, it seems the sky۪s the limit where Khurrana can make his next impact.
