Ayushmann Khurrana happy with “boy-next-door” roles

Ayushmann Khurrana has recently had two back-to-back successes in performances with ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ and ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’, as well as being appreciated in ‘Meri Pyaari Bindu’ a few months back too. He’s stated he has no issues playing “boy-next-door” characters.

The actor told IANS, “Isn’t it more heroic that I can connect and reach out to audience with a topic that others might fear to narrate?”

He went on to say, “I think you have to be really secure as a man to play a character like Mudit (in Shubh Mangal Saavdhan) who is still loved by his girlfriend despite going through a problem (erectile dysfunction)”.

Talking specifically about ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’, he added, “Since I donated sperms in real life, I had a reference point when I acted in Vicky Donor. But this (erectile dysfunction) is one of those problems that people do not talk about. I do not know if any of my friends or acquaintance are dealing with this issue. So, I had no reference point to play the character. That was quite an interesting process”.
