Ayushmann Khurrana on his fifth year in B-town

Reflecting on completing his fifth year in the industry – in which he had three releases – Ayushmann Khurrana opens about feeling happy with what he has achieved this year.

Reported on Pinkvilla, Khurrana said in a leading daily that having two hit films at the box office, ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ (2017) and ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’ (2017), made up for the disappointing result of ‘Meri Pyaari Bindhu’ (2017). “I am glad that the fifth year proved great. I hope every year turns out to be like that and that I keep making right choices. But 2017 has been a blessing, thanks to all the characters that I portrayed.”

Sharing his thoughts on the latter, Khurrana continued to say, “In our profession, anything can happen but at the same me, an actor has to just go with his or her intuition and gut; and grow as an artist.” Further adding, “All you can do is be conscious of the choices you make, and give your best as an actor. That’s why the cumulative response to Bareilly Ki Barfi and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan was very satisfying.”

Asked about what he hopes 2018 will bring, Khurrana said, “Of course, you expect things to happen as smoothly as it happened in 2017. For starters, I have made a radical choice with Sriram Raghavan’s next. I’ve already made a mark as a boy-next-door so, it’s high time that I reveal my dark side now (laughs). Then, I’ve Badhaai Ho, with which I am going back to the quirky space that, I feel, I own by now.”
