Awaz FM presenter found murdered

A presenter on Glasgow’s community Asian radio station, Awaz FM has been found murdered.

Detectives are investigating the “brutal” murder of Nasim Jamil, 54, whose body was discovered by family members at her flat in Byres Road on Wednesday night.

Mrs Jamil, who was widowed and lived with her daughter, was found in her third floor flat at around 19:50 on Wednesday. Strathclyde Police said she had last been seen earlier in the day

Det Ch Insp Louise Raphael said, “This was a particularly brutal murder and the person or persons responsible must be caught.”

Raphael added, “We will also be studying CCTV in the Byres Road area to identify pedestrians and motorists who were in the area on Wednesday.”

Mrs Jamil had worked at Awaz FM since 2004, presenting a programme on food and on reuniting broken families.
