AVTA 2018: Urdu news channel category added

This year’s Asian Viewers Television Awards (AVTA) take place in December and there will be a notable change in the categories.

BizAsiaLive.com can reveal that the ‘Best Of British’ category has been dropped from this year’s line-up. In its place, AVTA organisers have added a new category to celebrate the influx of Urdu news channels in the UK market. The category ‘Urdu News Channel of the Year’ will give viewers to vote for their favourite Urdu news broadcaster in the UK, which includes New Vision TV, Geo News, Dunya News, Samaa TV, 92 News, UK 44 and Hum News.

The new category, will complement existing category ‘News Channel Of The Year’, which will focus on Indian news broadcasters in the UK.

AVTA 2018 takes place on 15th December at a lavish London hotel.
