There has been a lot of speculationroaming aroundthe actual story of Karan Johar’s ambitious ‘Shuddhi’. There has been speculation of ‘Shuddhi’ being an adaptation of Amish Tripathi’s book, ‘Immortals of Meluha’, but Tripathi has confirmed that the film is not an adaptation of his book, but says his book will be made into a separate film by Karan Johar.

To the Hindustan Times, Tripathi stated, “Shuddhi has absolutely nothing to do with my book. It’s an independent story. The director of the film Karan (Malhotra) clarified this earlier and I am clarifying it once again.”

However, his books will be adapted on the big screen by the same production house. Tripathi added that Joharisthe only producerwho has the rights to hisbooks. He said, “The rights to my books belong solely to Karan Johar’s production company and they are making an adaptation out of it. There’s no way anyone else can use it.”

Triapthi also admittedthat while he involvedinhis story’s process with Johar, he thinks that the production house should be the ones picking the cast. He revealed, “Although I am quite involved in the film, it’s only fair that the production house selects the cast.”

‘Shuddhi’ has undergone a major casting makeover, with Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt being the new faces of the film.
