Asma Khan’s ‘Secrets of The Curry Kitchen’ to air on Food Network this May in UK
Restaurateur, brilliantly instinctive cook and one of TIME magazine’s 100 Most Influential People of 2024, Asma Khan, is set to bring the vibrant and delectable world of Indian cuisine to the small screen with her debut network television show, ‘Secrets of The Curry Kitchen’. Premiering this May on Food Network and discovery+ in the UK & Ireland, across 10-episodes Asma will take viewers into the kitchen of her globally renowned restaurant, Darjeeling Express, located in London’s Soho.
From Chilli Cheese Toasties to Coconut Prawn Malaikari, each episode will be centred around one of Darjeeling Express’ most popular dishes, with viewers getting a rare glimpse of how Asma and her team of nine extraordinary women lovingly create them. Using techniques passed down through mothers, aunts and grandmothers, they honour the very personal and rich cultural stories around each dish.
Inspired by the restaurant dishes, each episode will also see Asma guiding viewers through the preparation of three mouthwatering recipes they can recreate at home. From the bold Jhal Farezi to the fragrant Sweet Zada Saffron Rice and indulgent Chilli Chocolate Barfi, Asma combines heart, humour, and incredible knowledge to reveal the secrets of making these dishes effortlessly in your own kitchen.
Asma Khan said, “I want to take viewers by the hand and share my love for Indian food as well
as my tips and secrets for elevating your dishes and letting your ingredients shine.”
‘Secrets of the Curry Kitchen’ is commissioned for Warner Bros. Discovery by Charlotte Reid,
VP Commissioning and produced by a Banijay UK company. It will premiere in May on Food Network and will be available to stream on discovery+.
Charlotte Reid, VP Commissioning, Warner Bros. Discovery said: “We have been wanting to make a food series telling a delicious story of regional Indian cooking for a while now. Only by partnering with the wonderful Asma Khan, a cook whose food is inspired by her childhood and tells the stories of the generations of women who nourished body and soul with these mouthwatering recipes, could we do this. We’re so excited to be working with her and her all-women team in the Darjeeling Express restaurant kitchen. Asma will share the secrets behind these dishes, bringing exquisite, makeable, regional Indian food to our homes. Produced by the equally wonderful Sidney Street, we can’t wait to serve up this new series for Food Network.”
