Asian Star Radio to launch on Sky Digital

Slough’s Asian community station Asian Star Radio is set to launch on Sky Digital next month, its been announced.

Asian Star Radio, spearheaded by Ray Siddique and Pritam Chaggar, has confirmed to BizAsia.co.uk that it will be going national by launching on the satellite platform from Sunday 1st February on Sky EPG 0213. This channel is currently occupied by Polish station PRL 24 but will be handed over to Asian Star Radio from next month.

In a statement by the channel, it said, “Under the current climate most businesses and services including commercial radio are under going tough challenges, and especially when it comes to the community radio sector of the industry, but Asian Star Radio has successfully gone through it’s tough times to see light at the other end.”

Asian Star Radio has recently relocated its studios to The Observatory Shopping Centre in High Street, Slough – former radio studios of Time 106.6FM owned by Sunrise Group.

Asian Star Radio currently broadcasts in Slough, Windsor, Maidenhead and parts of Heathrow on 101.6FM and online.

Rival Asian broadcaster ZEE Radio also launched on Sky Digital earlier this month.
