Asian Sound Radio extends on Yorkshire DAB

Asian Sound Radio

Ofcom has confirmed that Asian Sound Radio will be extending its transmission area by launching on the Bradford & Huddersfield DAB multiplex from next month.

Asian Sound Radio had put in multiplex variation request, which has been approved by the media regulator. The station joins other Asian broadcasters like Panjab Radio, Sunrise Radio and the recently launched Paigham Radio.

In its request approval, Ofcom said Asian Sound Radio will offer, A locally-oriented music and information service for Asian listeners in East Lancashire and West Yorkshire, with a mix of music. At least a third of the output is in Urdu and Hindi, and the Gujerati and Bengali speaking communities are catered for.۝

Asian Sound Radio has been broadcasting since 1995 in East Lancashire and Northern parts of Greater Manchester.
