Ashutosh Gowariker: “I do the research myself, it prepares you well”

Filmmaker and visionary Ashutosh Gowariker states he likes to do thorough research on his films even though it takes time.

Credited for delivering impressive movies with ��blockbusters such as, ‘Lagaan'(2001), ‘Swades'(2004) and ‘Jodhaa Akbar'(2008), the director organised a master class programme for film students and aspiring film makers with the Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association (IDTDA) on Friday evening. The session was moderated by renowned television director Ravi Rai.

Gowariker enlightened his audience with life experiences which would help flourish their career and highlighted the importance of reviewing information when depicting historical characters and bringing those legends to the big screen.��Indian Express reports the director saying, “I always do the research myself. I read all the books on the subject that I am going to adapt and understand the era myself. It can take a long time but it prepares you well.”

He went on to encourage aspiring actors not to be disheartened with rejection and to ensure they are completely prepared for auditions, “Remember your talent is not getting rejected , maybe you didn’t suit the part you auditioned for.”

Gowariker is currently shooting his most ambitious film yet, Hrithik Roshan starrer ‘Mohenjo Daro’ in which he has signed debutant Pooja Hegde as the female protagonist.

The movie is scheduled for release on 12th August.
