When news spread that a biopic on actress Priyanka Chopra was to be made by her ex, Aseem Merchant, there was huge uproar across the media. When it reached Chopra’s ears she was not at all impressed with the idea. However first time director Merchant, has put all rumours to rest that the film is actually a biopic.
He stated that his film is in actual fact about Chopra’s ex modelling manager, Prakash Jaju, as opposed to having her as ita focus. “The film is about Prakash Jaju, not Priyanka Chopra,” NDTV report him explaining.
Merchant dated the actress during her career as a model. Understanding the link between the modelling world and the Indian film industry, he wants to tell a story based in what he saw Jaju go through. He went into add, “It is about his (Jaju) experiences in Bollywood and will cover the entire entertainment industry. I respect and admire Priyanka. In no way am I trying to malign or hurt her. As a producer I am only trying to make a realistic film.”
There’s no doubt that the film will touch on aspects of Chopra’s life, however, the focus will not be entirely on her. With that said, looks like Chopra can breathe a little easier now.
