Aryan Khan denied bail; custodial remand extended until 7th October

After his arrest on Saturday on a cruise ship during an anti-drugs raid by the Narcotics Control Bureau, Aryan Khan and his two friends Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha were arrested and put into custody. As BizAsia reported earlier, they appeared in court. However, it was expected that Khan would be given bail today but, instead, he and his friends have had their custody extended until 7th October.

“Investigation is of prime importance and it needs to be carried out. It benefits both accused and investigator”, said the judge, as quoted by NDTV. In the raid, 13 grams of cocaine, 21 grams of charas, 22 pills of MDMA and 5 grams of MD were seized.

The NCB said that Khan’s chats included “code names” of others and they have alleged that the raid is part of an international cartel.

It’s thought that the agency requires Khan’s custody to remain in place until 11th October so that they can thoroughly question him, although this is not confirmed.

Merchant and Dhamecha were reportedly in tears at the extension of their remand in custody but Khan was calm.
