ARY One World to replace The Muzik on Sky

ARY Digital’s relaunched news and current affairs channel One World is extending its hours to permanently takeover an EPG slot on Sky Digital.

Currently, ARY One World timeshares sixteen hours per day with its sister channel The Muzik. However, from mid-February The Muzik will be phased out totally leaving the EPG slot vacant for ARY One World.

A spokesman from ARY Digital UK confirmed the developments to BizAsia.co.uk today. Moreover, the revamped ARY One World service in the UK will be locally controlled to prevent a repeat of problems it experienced last year.

ARY One World was rapped by Ofcom for breaching its rules and regulations. The media regulator noted sponsorship credit mentions during various bulletins on the channel. The Code, which broadcasters licensed in the UK are required to comply with, therefore prohibits sponsorship of news and current affairs on television.

ARY One World then ceased broadcasting in the UK in July but made a return last month to coincide with the political state in Pakistan. Since then, ARY One World has timeshared with The Muzik.

The Muzik will be removed fully from Sky Digital next month, which will result in EPG 806 being renamed to ‘ARY One World’ and the channel broadcasting round the clock.
