ARY News splits UK feed after court ruling

ARY News – 2nd December 2016

ARY News has split its transmission from its Pakistan feed to prevent any telecast of the ongoing spat with rival, Geo TV.

On Friday, ARY Network lost a huge libel case against the Jang Group, owners of Geo TV. It now seems, ARY News UK is playing it “safe” to avoid any further issues with Geo TV. It seems UK media regulator, Ofcom is observing the two broadcasters after the London High Court ruling. Ofcom is already investigating ARY Digital and ARY News’ UK licences. In Pakistan, broadcasters have different media laws and thus UK television regulations do not apply there.

Geo News and Daily Jang reporter Murtaza Ali Shah tweeted the two separate feeds of ARY News from Friday. It shows, ARY News UK showing a recorded news programme, while in Pakistan, the same channel is broadcasting a debate show on the judgment. Meanwhile, Head of Jang Group/Geo International, Baseem Baig Chagtai also tweeted something similar.
