ARY Network removed from Sky platform

ARY Network
ARY Network

ARY Network’s three channels, ARY Digital, ARY News and ARY QTV have been removed from the Sky EPG this morning.

The channels, which were available on:
ARY Digital – 791
ARY News – 802
ARY QTV – 804

While the three channels have been taken off from the respective slots, they are still broadcasting off the EPG (manually tune). It is also being said that ARY Digital and ARY News have disappeared from the Virgin Media line-up but this is yet to be confirmed.

The popular Pakistani television network had come under fire after losing a case against rival, Geo Network’s owner, Jang Group. The issues reached a head last month when Jang Group’s Chief Executive and Editor in Chief, Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman was awarded £185,000 in libel damages from ARY Network. Subsequently, ARY Network closed down its offices in London and ceased running on-air commercials. Earlier this week, ARY News – the most popular channel out of the ARY Network channels, terminated its live news transmission.

It is not known why the three channels have suddenly been removed. Media regulator, Ofcom has been looking into the network’s licences over the past few weeks but it is yet to publish any findings from the investigation.
