ARY Digital to launch weekly newspaper

ARY Digital Network has announced plans to launch a weekly English newspaper for Muslim readers.

The new title, to be published in London and Pakistan, will be edited by Burhan Wazir, a former deputy Features Editor at The Times. The paper will be distributed in the UK, Europe and Pakistan – offering news, business, sport, features and opinion. Print and digital editions will also seek to build bridges on issues common to the West and the Muslim world.

ARY recently announced plans to publish a daily Urdu newspaper, based in Pakistan.

“We are launching an English title to fill a vacuum for trustworthy, quality news. We seek to offer informed news and sophisticated commentary on the issues of the day. Muslims – and those readers who are interested in the Muslim diaspora- are looking for a resource which understands their mindset, said Salman Iqbal, CEO and Managing Director of the ARY Digital Television Network.

Editor Burhan Wazir, said: “From London to Washington, via the Gulf and South Asia, there is need of a quality product aimed at an increasingly sophisticated and metropolitan Muslim community. Our reporters and writers will help shape this debate, finding common ground between Europe, Asia and the Middle East.”
