With Kangana Ranaut already signed for the film as the protagonist, news has it South star Arvind Swami has also be signed to play a pivotal role in the Jayalalithaa biopic titled ‘Thalaivi’.
According to Mid-Day, Swami will replicate the role of actor-turned Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MG Ramachandran, or MGR as he was fondly known, who was responsible for supporting Jayalalithaa’s development and popularity in politics.
Talking about signing Swami on, producer Vishnu Induri was reported expressing, “We wanted someone who has a pan-India appeal, and resembles MGR. Arvind Swami perfectly suited the role. His and Kangana’s on-screen pair will be fresh. He took lot of time to sign on the dotted line because he wanted to be sure that he could devote enough time to prep for the role. He is a perfectionist.”
