Arrest warrant issued for Preity Zinta due to bounced cheque

According to reports, actress Preity Zinta has been issued a warrant for her arrest by the local metropolitan magistrate’s court in Andheri, Mumbai, in connection to a case of a bounced cheque.

NDTV report Zinta’s lawyer, Ratneshwar Jha confirming, “The court has issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Zinta today, We will move the court to cancel the warrant or we will move the Bombay High Court and file a writ.” As Zinta is currently not in India, she was unable to appear in court.

The case was filed by ‘Ishkq in Paris’ (2013) dialogue writer, Abbas Tyrewala, who was given a cheque for Rs. 18.9, which had bounced. With Zinta being the producer, she was responsible for the payment. It is uncertain as to what the outcome of this situation will be, but let’s hope Zinta pays a bit more attention to her finances in future.
