Arjun Kapoor marks his debut with 'Ishaqzaade'

‘Ishaqzaade’ isless than20 days from release and the film’s hero, Arjun Kapoor, is all set to make his debut. He is no stranger to Bollywood as he comes from a film family but the 26-year-old believes the only thing way people take you seriously is when you deliver. Being Boney Kapoor’s son, there will inevitably be expectations of him.

Talking to the Times of India, less than a month off the release of his second film, Kapoor comments on how he feels, “It’s a bitter-sweet moment; I have lost deeply, and I’m excited about what’s to come”. Kapoor recently lost his mother, Mona Kapoor, who lost her fight with cancer.

Although promos have given a romantic feel, they have also portrayed some of the movie’s shady moments. Kapoor reveals a little more, “The film is set in a fictitious town in North India. What people perhaps haven’t caught from the trailer is the politics running beneath the love story. It’s at the core of the plot, just the way it is for most people in small-town India.” Parineeti Chopra – of ‘Ladies vs Ricky Bahl’ (2011)fame – co-stars in the movie, produced under the YashRaj Films banner.

When asked how close his character, Parma, is to him in real-life, he states, “Parma gets down and dirty. He lets his emotions show. I internalise things. My sorrows and joys are private.” Kapoor also revealed that he was the first to be cast for the film and this helped him get under the skin of a character which is do different to his own.

It has been said that Kapoor lost a lot of weight in the last few years. He comments, “I’m still fat in my head. If I eat a bit more, I imagine I am bloating. I’ve won the challenge, now I must sustain it. It’s ongoing. I can’t stop eating, but now I’m careful.” The actor also divulged that seeing six-pack abs in magazines didn’t make his journey easy.

‘Ishaqzaade’ releases on 11th May. If you haven’t already, check out the song ‘Pareshaan’ from the movie below.
