Arjun Kapoor bagged ‘2 States’ after offers to Saif, SRK & Ranbir

The ‘2 States’ trailer has created waves somewhat since being unveiled yesterday. The film looks to showcase another very promising jodi in Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. However, at the launch event, co-producer Sajid Nadiadwala confirmed that the male lead role was first offered to Saif Ali Khan, then Shah Rukh Khan and also Ranbir Kapoor before the movie was made with Arjun.

“Look at the journey the film has taken. It started with Saif Ali Khan green lighting the project, then Shah Rukh Khan and later Ranbir. After that, Karan came to me saying let’s make it with Arjun and I fell off my chair. However, when we started making the movie I saw the final product, I thought Karan was right in his judgement,” said Nadiadwala.

Arjun also spoke about the role which he plays in the film, “It is like a dream come true to be part of a film based on a novel that was liked by one and all. I had first noticed this book on my mother’s bookshelf. This film came to me after ‘Ishaqzaade’ was released. I am excited to do this film and it is very much different from what I have done in my previous films”.

‘2 States’ also stas Amrita Singh and Revathi and is slated for release on 18th April. It is a film based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel of the same name.
