Archana Kanade, Business Head for ZEE Network UK’s free-to-air channels, is leaving the company after six years with the UK organisation.

Kanade has been responsible for spearheading ZEE Network’s free-to-air channels Zing and Lamhe. Her key projects include the transformation of Zing from a music channel to the UK’s number one Brit-Asian Bollywood channel and the introduction of Lamhe the first channel in the Asian market to showcase classic programming. She has also been instrumental in creating local programming for the Brit-Asian audience with many firsts for the market including ‘Brit۪s Bollywood’ a magazine show, ‘Cloud 9’ – the UK۪s first Brit-Asian soap, ‘Grinds My Teeth’ a light hearted viral videos show, ‘Rock The Vibe’ an interactive discussion show. She also played a key role in developing many Bollywood shows that have been firm favourites amongst the audience.

Neeraj Dhingra, CEO, Europe, Archana۪s contribution has been valuable to the progress of the organisation at key points in its history. Her experience of 19 long years in the industry has added to the strength of how the network۪s products now stand. Her vigour and vision has been a great asset and I offer her my whole-hearted support in her future ventures.۝

Archana Kanade added, Working with ZEE and its initiatives has been a great pleasure. I۪ve had the opportunity to work on ZEE۪s channels at the perfect time when the FTA business was still budding giving me the chance to turn around the channels for growth, focusing on the gaps in the market. I wish ZEE Network continues to do well and reaches even newer heights.”

Kanade will be working on something independently after leaving ZEE Network. Meanwhile, BizAsia understands Dhingra and Parul Goel (Deputy Territory Head, ZEE Europe) will overhead Zing and Lamhe. The network will not be scouting for any replacement for the vacant position.
