AR Rahman is currently penning a script, which will be based on a singer.

The Hindi film called ’99 Songs’, which will also release in Tamil, will have music produced by the Oscar-winning composer.

A source told Mumbai Mirror, “Music is crucial to the plot and will be composed by Rahman sir himself but the film is not his biopic. It follows the journey of a struggling singer and the roadblocks he faces before he becomes a successful composer. It is a love story too, but is more about art, passion and realising one’s true capabilities.”

Rahman has recently finished the soundtrack of ‘Tamasha’ and is busy with Ashutosh Gowariker’s ‘Mohenjo Daro’. The source said, “They are looking for a fresh face. Rahman sir wants a South Indian actor to play the musician. He should have a basic understanding of music too. There will be a strong supporting cast of international musicians and actors too.”
