AR Rahman recreates ‘Urvashi’ with political twist

Music maestro, AR Rahman has recreated his huge 90s hit song ‘Urvashi Urvashi’ with crowd-sourced lyrics.

DNA India reports the re-worked version of the song, originally taken from ‘Kadhalan’, features references to demonetisation and Donald Trump.

In a statement, Rahman said, “The most beautiful thing about art is that it belongs to everyone and crowd sourcing is a great way to get newer audiences to connect. It was a fabulous experience and what we’ve got is some interesting stuff filled with references to current events which is just as vibrant as the original one.”

The song will be performed at the MTV Unplugged show on 14th January.
