Although the actress is indeed one of the most promising of Bollywood’s generation next, it seems that Anushka Sharma is in no hurry to fill the shoes ofyour typical Yash Chopra white-sari-wearingheroine in the forthcoming ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’. In fact, Sharma believes she epitomises a modern day version of a heroine as defined by the Yash Raj Films banner in previous years.
According to Times of India, Sharma said in a recent interview, “I know that there is something like an image about Yashji’s heroines but maybe I am the new age Yash Chopra heroine. There is going to be a white chiffon sari but I am the white ganji girl and that’s what I am going to be wearing”.
Speaking about her role in the film, which also stars Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif, Sharma continued, “My role is of a girl of 21-year-old girl who is very hard working and ambitious. She is working for Discovery channel and is trying to make a documentary. I don’t fit into the saree image because of the character but she has the same emotions so it is a Yash Chopra love”.
The actress expresses that ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ will well and truly put her in the ‘Yash Chopra heroine’ category and feels her career would have been incomplete had she not have had the chance to work with Chopra.
