Anushka Sharma talks about turning producer

Anushka Sharma NH10

Anushka Sharma has a relatively successful career as an actress and with ‘NH10’ (2015), she turned producer alongside her brother Karnesh. Talking about the experience, Sharma has talked about the film not being the most conventional way to begin.

“NH10 was not an easy film to start with. There were risks involved, but that۪s the fun. What۪s the point of doing this if it۪s easy, and not challenging? When it was received well, it made me realise that you should stand by your decision when you feel something strongly,” said Sharma, who has started her second production ‘Phillauri’ recently.

Sharma says she finds different aspects of filmmaking enjoyable, including being in front of the camera, “As an actor, you have to be in touch with yourself. There۪s a lot of personal monitoring involved, because it۪s an individualistic profession; you۪re not collaborating with too many people, like you do in production. Acting is not easy because the roles make it difficult, but it۪s something that I understand. But production is very different”.

Sharma continues, talking about the decisions involved with being a producer, “There۪s a lot more that happens in production. There are a lot more responsibilities, and in the beginning, it was too much for me. At every given time, you۪re taking the final call on things, and somewhere, if one thing slacks, you feel responsible. That can be a daunting thing”.

Sharma will be seen next in ‘Sultan’ opposite Salman Khan. It’s slated for release at Eid.
