Anurag Kashyap planning ‘Gangs of Wasseypur 3’

Anurag Kashyap

As franchise films become something of a norm within the Indian film industry, news has it that filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has started to plan the third installment to the ‘Gangs of’ films.

According to reports Kashyap has already asked writer Zeishan Quadri who was also involved in the script for ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ (2012) to write as well as direct the third film. “Now Anurag is after me to write ‘Wasseypur 3’ and told me to direct it. So I’ve given it a thought and have started writing the script for ‘Wasseypur 3’,” NDTV reported Quadri stating.

Quadri also played a part in the second half of ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ called Definite. Being rather multi talented, Quadri is rather skeptical of directing a film for Kashyap, as he went to add, “I began my career with him, so obviously I would wish that he watches the film. He is a mentor, but I hadn’t told him that I’m directing a film.”

He even went onto talk about Kashyap’s hesitation in watching the writer-director’s film ‘Dev. D’ (2009). “Basically he was apprehensive that if the film didn’t turn out to be good, his frank opinion about the film, would hurt me. He might have thought I’ll tell him, ‘You didn’t help in the making and now you’re calling it bad’,” he said.

It seems Kashyap’s now has a lot more confidence in Quadri, here’s hoping it all works out.
