It has been quite a while since director Anurag Basu revealed he was planning a biopic on the legendary actor and singer, Kishore Kumar. While Ranbir Kapoor was finalised for the role, the director has now revealed that Kapoor might not play the part unless the project takes off after 2017.
The biopic is definitely happening. Ranbir Kapoor is not doing it right now. If I start it in 2017 then Ranbir will not be able to do it_ then I will go with some other actor. And Ranbir is okay with it. He has also told me that if it is further delayed (to 2018) then he will be able do it, Basu told PTI.
Basu is currently busy with kids’ dance TV reality show ‘Super Dancer’, where he is a judge alongside actor Shilpa Shetty and choreographer Geeta Kapur. Talking about the upcoming biopic, the director further added, “Scripting is done. In all likelihood, I will start work on the biopic from 2017. But before that I have another film to start, ‘Life In A Metro’ sequel.”
Actor Aamir Khan, who is currently working on the biopic ‘Dangal,’ based on Haryana wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat, is said to be keenly interested in doing Kumar۪s biopic.According to buzz, Khan even met up with filmmaker Basu to discuss the project.
It will be interesting to see who will finally be part of this directorial venture.
