Anu Malik on songs remade: “Don’t forget to mention the original composer”

Following the recent trend of major throwback songs being reprised, ‘Neend Churai Meri’ from ‘Ishq’ (1997), which became a huge hit for Anu Malik, is now being remade for ‘Golmaal Again’.

According to Asian Age, Malik who has no qualms about this, expressed that credit for the song should be given to the original composer.  “If you want to give a twist to a song, I have no problem. But don’t forget to mention the original composer’s name.”

Though it seems that Malik may not have been aware that the song was being remade by Amaal Malik. “I wish Amaal all the best, but it will always be an Anu Malik tune. The younger generation, who have never heard that song, will think this is the original composer. It is fine to recreate, but don’t forget to give credit to original composers. You should make the call and tell the original composer this is what I am going to do. But if you don’t have the courtesy to do that at least give the credit. Thankfully, people know who the composer is, so it is a great feeling.”

Having been on the receiving end of a lot of negativity, Malik says he is no longer phased by what is said to him,  “I never get affected by anyone telling me anything I have struggled so much in my life. I have seen so much of rejection, insult and humiliation, that it can turn into a film. So, I am not really affected by trolls.”
