Anu Malik quits ‘Indian Idol’ over sexual allegations

Music veteran, Anu Malik has been forced to quit Sony Entertainment Television’s ‘Indian Idol 10’ after a spate of sexual allegations against him.

Malik, who has been judging the hit reality show this year, along with Vishal Dadlani and Neha Kakkar, has come under pressure to leave the series in the last few days. Four women have accused the music composer of inappropriate behaviour, as a part of the ongoing #MeToo movement sweeping across India.

A statement said, “Anu Malik is no longer a part of Indian Idol jury panel. The show will continue its planned schedule & we’ll invite some of the biggest names in Indian music as guests to join Vishal and Neha to judge extraordinary talent of Indian Idol season 10.”

Malik also confirmed the developments in a statement, “I, Anu Malik, have decided to take a break from Indian Idol as I am currently unable to focus on my work on the show. The channel has been kind to agree for the same. Thank you.”

Singers Sona Mohapatra and Shweta Pandit were the first two singers who alleged sexual against him.

‘Indian Idol 10’ airs on Sony TV every weekend at 20:00.
