Antakshari’s Anu Kapoor set to depart from show

If the buzz is to be believed, then ZEE TV?s popular musical show Antakshari is in for a major makeover. Unlike the recent set make over, this one will actually involve people from the show.

Sources close to the show said, ?Yes, it is true that we are looking out for a replacement. We have had a very cordial association with Anuji (Kapoor) and he has been a part of the show for over 12 years. But keeping the changing times in mind, we think it is necessary to incorporate a new face as the host.?

When contacted, Anu Kapoor said, ?I have heard about it from numerous people. But no one has officially commented on this decision. I am ready to step down and make way for a younger face. I think I have been a part of the show for a really long time now. ?

Over the years, the show has seen numerous female anchors being replaced but the loyalty always remained with Kapoor. Recently, the show unveiled a dazzling new stage and changed the format of its musical rounds.

The talk is that sometime in June, the show will take a small break and be back with new faces. ?We want to bring in the element of freshness by roping in new faces. Our concept of blending reality with music has worked wonders and even inspired other shows,? said the source.

Sources close to the channel deny that they are planning to ditch Antakshari for a new show. Gajendra Singh, the director for the show said, ?It?s untrue. I cannot reveal details at this stage, but Antakshari is very much an intrinsic part of the channel?s agenda.?
