Former BBC Asian Network presenter Anjum Rafiq is set to return behind the microphone by fronting the ‘Drivetime’ show on Birmingham’s commercial station, Radio XL.

He takes over the reigns from regular DJ Satty from Monday 27th July in the 15:00 – 18:00 weekday slot. Whilst it۪s not confirmed, Anjum will present the show indefinitely in Satty’s absence.

Confirming the news to BizAsia.co.uk, Anjum said, “As for how long I will be presenting this show, I don’t know. I am covering the show for the moment whilst Satty is away. I will be working with Radio XL for the foreseable future.”

Prior to his Radio XL work, Anjum worked on the ‘Lunchtime’ show on the BBC Asian Network before he resigned in 2005. After this, he spent majority of his in Morocco trying to obtain a national radio licence for under 35s but proved unsuccessful.

He also covered for shows on Club Asia during 2006.
