Anil Kapoor wanted Shabana Azmi to dissuade Sonam from becoming an actress

Shabana Azmi will soon be seen playing onscreen mum to Sonam Kapoor in the biopic on Neerja Bhanot’s life. ��Azmi says her relationship with Kapoor goes back a long way and when Kapoor had decided to become an actress, her father Anil Kapoor had requested Azmi to dissuade Sonam from joining the acting profession.

Speaking to��Mumbai Mirror, Azmi said, “When Sonam decided to become an actress, Anil worried that she was too tall, sent her to me hoping I’d dissuade her. ��I told the sweet child to do what her heart tole her to, I’d support her… filming Neerja with her, Anil was promoting Zoya’s film, ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’. ��It’s such a pleasure when children carry on the relationships of their parents.”

The biopic, being produced by photographer Atul Kasbekar, also marks the acting debut of music director Shekhar Ravjiani. ��It is being directed by Ram Madhvani.
