Anil Kapoor on turning director: “I don’t feel confident”
Anil Kapoor has become a Bollywood icon after almost 40 years in the industry, but he still doesn’t feel ready to direct his own film.
“Everybody’s asked me to direct a film. When I worked with Vidhu Vinod Chopra on ‘1942: A Love Story’ (1994), his team would tell me that I’d make a good director, but I don’t feel confident.”, Kapoor told Deccan Chronicle.
“I know it’s been over 20 years since the release of ‘Parinda’ (1989). But I was not confident then, and I’m not confident now. Even on the last day of the ‘Ek Ladki Ko…’ shoot, the team asked me why I didn’t feel like trying my hand at direction. But I can’t think technically. I can only think emotionally.”, he shared.
Kapoor is currently promoting ‘Fanney Khan’, starring Aishwariya Rai Bachchan and Rajkummar Rao, which will release on 3rd August.
