Anil Kapoor: “There is no substitute for hard work”

He’s one of India’s most iconic actors, who has even ventured into doing film in the west, where his own life tells a story of rags to riches. However, Anil Kapoor doesn’t take anything for granted due to his humble background where he knows not everything falls on luck.

Catching up with the media whilst he attended this year’s International Film Festival of India, the actor had some very sound advice for anyone who wants to be successful. “There is no substitute for hard work. Yes, luck is an integral part but you have to work hard. Every parent feels their kids should be talented, but luck is also equally important,” Deccan Chronicle reports Kapoor explain.

He went on to say, “Having said that, you can’t depend on your luck all the time and not work hard. t’s a combination of both. I feel if you work hard, you can change your fate with dedication, passion, consistency; work like a dog.”

With his own family being rather female dominated, Kapoor gives all the credit to women and explains how he feels they tend to excel further than men. “Girls dominate and rule the home. Once you start believing that they are special and superior, automatically you let them be. They are multi-talented. They can multitask. They are so wonderful and beautiful. I can’t imagine a world without them. The more women there are in the world, the better it is,” he said.

Kapoor has a number of projects lined up including ‘Total Dhamaal’ directed by Indra Kumar, Anees Bazmee’s ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ and ‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga’ which will also star his daughter Sonam Kapoor and Juhi Chawla.
