Amruta Khanvilkar set to star in Alia Bhatt’s ‘Raazi’

Amruta Khanvilkar announced earlier today that she too will be joining the cast of ‘Raazi’ and is feeling rather excited about it, with Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal in lead roles.

Reported in the New Indian Express, the Marathi actress tweeted, “#newrole.. start of a #newjourney with some awesome people … 1 st day on the sets of #Raazi … ganapati bappa moraya.”

However the character which Khanvilkar will be playing has not been revealed yet. A close source said, “Amruta’s role is prominent. She gave her first shot today in a studio in Mumbai but we are not sure whether the rest of the team is shooting in Mumbai or not, as the actress is not allowed to speak anything about it.”

Helmed by Meghna Gulzar, ‘Raazi’ is based on a Harinder Sikka’s best-selling novel, ‘Calling Sehmat’. It’s a story about a Kashmiri spy (Bhatt) who is married off to a Pakistani army officer (Kaushal). The ‘Raazi’ team were hoping to shoot mostly in Kashmir, but due to security concerns this decision was soon abandoned and now a set is being recreated in Mumbai.

‘Raazi’ is slated to release in 2018. Stay with BizAsiaLive.com for all the latest.
